Η έκθεση διερευνά την ποικιλομορφία των εικόνων που διακινούνταν στον ορθόδοξο ελληνικό χώρο από τον 17ο έως τον 19ο αιώνα, μέσα από τις συλλογές του Μουσείου Μπενάκη. Μια ιδιαίτερη ενότητα της έκθεσης παρουσιάζει τα νέα τεχνικά στοιχεία που προέκυψαν από το συνεχιζόμενο ερευνητικό πρόγραμμα ERC RICONTRANS, δίνοντας στο κοινό τη δυνατότητα να προσεγγίσει τα έργα μέσα από το στερομικροσκόπιο. Η έκθεση είναι μέρος του έργου RICONTRANS, το οποίο έχει λάβει χρηματοδότηση από το Ευρωπαϊκό Συμβούλιο Έρευνας (ERC) στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος έρευνας και καινοτομίας της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης Ορίζοντας 2020 βάσει συμφωνίας επιχορήγησης με αριθμό 818791.

The exhibition explores the iconographic, stylistic and technical diversity of icons that circulated in the Greek Orthodox space between the 17th and 19th centuries, sourcing material from the collections of the Benaki Museum. A special section of the exhibition presents new technical data that emerged from the ongoing ERC RICONTRANS research project, granting the public unique in-depth access to selected works through the stereomicroscope. This exhibition is part of RICONTRANS project, which has received funding from the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (grant agreement No 818791).

Εισαγωγή στην τεχνολογία κατασκευής των Ρωσικών εικόνων | Introduction on the technology of Russian icons

Το Εργαστήριο Συντήρησης Εικόνων συμμετείχε στο μεταπτυχιακό σεμινάριο «Ελληνικές και ρωσικές εικόνες: τέχνη, τεχνικές, εργαστήρια« του προγράμματος Βυζαντινός Κόσμος, του Τμήματος Ιστορίας και Αρχαιολογίας του ΕΚΠΑ, με ομιλία της Αλεξάνδρας Καλλιγά με θέμα «Εισαγωγή στην τεχνολογία κατασκευής των Ρωσικών εικόνων, 16^ος-18^ος αιώνας». Ακολούθησε συζήτηση, με αφορμή επιλεγμένες εικόνες της Ρωσικής συλλογής του Μουσείου τις οποίες οι φοιτητές είχαν την ευκαιρία να δουν από κοντά.

Η ομάδα ξεναγήθηκε επίσης στο ανοικτό εργαστήριο (open lab) φασματοσκοπίας ακτίνων X (ΧRF) που έλαβε χώρα στο Μουσείο σε συνεργασία με το Εργαστήριο φθορισιμετρίας ακτίνων Χ, του Ινστιτούτου Πυρηνικής και Σωματιδιακής Φυσικής, Ε.Κ.Ε.Φ.Ε. Δημόκριτος.

Το σεμινάριο πραγματοποιείται σε συνεργασία με το Μουσείο Μπενάκη, στο πλαίσιο του ευρωπαϊκού προγράμματος ERC RICONTRANS: Visual Culture, Piety and Propaganda: Transfer and Reception of Russian Religious Art in the Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean (16th-early 20th century).

The Icons Conservation Laboratory participated in the post-graduate seminar «Greek and russian icons: art, techniques, workshops» of the program Byzantine World, Department of History and Archaeology of the NKUA, with a lecture presented by Alexandra Kalliga entitled «Introduction on the technology of Russian icons, 16^th-18^th century». The lecture was followed by a discussion on the occasion of a selected group of icons from the Benaki Russian collection, which the students had the opportunity to close-examine.

The group visited the X-ray spectroscopy (XRF) open lab, held at the time in the Museum, in collaboration with the X-ray Fluorescence Laboratory of the Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics, NCSR Demokritos.

The seminar is held in collaboration with the Benaki Museum, under the framework of the European program ERC RICONTRANS: Visual Culture, Piety and Propaganda: Transfer and Reception of Russian Religious Art in the Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean (16th-early 20th century).
